Rub it in and it's gone. No film. No shine. No standing there with your hands in the air waiting to touch something.
Skin Repair is a rich, concentrated botanical moisturizer for dry skin, built on cold-pressed virgin coconut oil and glycerin. Dry, tight, weather-beaten skin feels like itself again from the first use, and a small amount covers a lot. It smells like lavender, rosemary and peppermint, because that is exactly what is in it. No synthetic fragrance of any kind.
Most creams start with wax or petrolatum. Both sit on top of your skin and block whatever is behind them from getting in. We use neither, and never have.
Below you will find every ingredient in the formula and what each one is doing there. Not a highlight reel. All of it, including the preservatives and the emulsifiers. We think you should be able to find that on any product you put on your skin. Ask yourself why you can't.
Hand Made in the USA in small batches. 2 fl oz / 60 ml.
WHAT DOES THE WORK
Water: The ultimate moisturizer, and what carries everything else into your skin.
Glycerin: A humectant, meaning it pulls moisture into the skin and holds it there. It increases hydration and relieves dryness.
Olive Oil: Cold-pressed olive fruit oil, rich in oleic acid. It is the carrier for our arnica and St. John's Wort infusions.
Virgin Coconut Oil: Cold-pressed, unrefined, and the base of our formula. A natural moisturizer with antimicrobial properties that soaks in instead of sitting on top.
St. John's Wort Oil: Flowers infused in oil, used topically for centuries. Traditionally used to soothe inflammation and support the skin's natural renewal.
Arnica Oil: A flower infusion used on skin for centuries. Arnica is known for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
Oat Oil: Pressed from oat kernels. Rich in fatty acids that nourish sensitive, irritated skin while improving elasticity and moisture retention.
Behenyl Alcohol: A plant-derived fatty alcohol, the same molecule as docosanol. It gives the cream structure and body without wax.
Red Raspberry Seed Oil: Cold-pressed from raspberry seeds. High in essential fatty acids, with natural antimicrobial and soothing properties.
MPC: A milk-derived whey protein and one of our costliest ingredients. Known to support collagen production, smoothing fine lines and improving firmness.
Rosemary Essential Oil: Steam-distilled from rosemary. Known for antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and for controlling excess oil on blemish-prone skin.
Peppermint Essential Oil: Steam-distilled from peppermint leaves. Known for antiseptic and antibacterial properties and a light cooling sensation.
Lavender Essential Oil: Steam-distilled from lavender flowers. Known for soothing properties and a clean, calming scent.
Vitamin E: An antioxidant that protects skin cells from environmental stress. It also supports hydration and barrier function.
WHAT HOLDS IT TOGETHER
Potassium Cetyl Phosphate: An emulsifier and stabilizer. It keeps the formula uniform from the first use to the last.
Cetearyl Alcohol: A fatty alcohol, not a drying alcohol. It softens skin and gives the cream its rich, non-greasy texture.
Glyceryl Stearate Citrate: An emulsifier that holds the oil and water phases together so the cream stays smooth.
Phenoxyethanol: A preservative. A water-based cream without one would grow bacteria and mold, so we use it and we tell you.
Ethylhexylglycerin: A skin conditioning agent with antimicrobial properties. It also strengthens the performance of our preservative system.
Acrylates Crosspolymer: A thickener. It gives the cream its body and keeps the formula stable.
Aminomethyl Propanol: A pH adjuster. It neutralizes acidic ingredients and keeps the formula stable.
BHT: An antioxidant approved by the FDA for use in food. It keeps the plant oils in this formula from going rancid on your shelf.
Skin Repair started with a problem one of our own people had.
Every winter our art director's hands took a beating. Chapped hands, raw knuckles, split cuticles, the kind of dry skin that nothing on the shelf actually fixed.
We took it to our formulators at the US Botanical Safety Laboratory in North Carolina and asked for a botanical cream built the way we build everything: no wax, no petrolatum, nothing that sits on the surface and blocks the rest from getting in. They developed the formula.
Then Bette spent several years testing it at her cottage in Northern Michigan, where summer is wind, lake water, sand, bug bites and whatever you brushed against in the woods, and winter is worse. She handed it to her friends up there, and they came back for more. Kenny Robinson tested it himself as well. When they were all satisfied, we made it.
Dry skin happens to everyone. Dry air, wind, cold, and washing your hands a dozen times a day. Skin Repair is a wax-free moisturizer built for exactly that.
