Principal Trombone - Częstochowa Philharmonic (Poland)

Polish trombonist Marlena Skoczylas is currently the Principal Trombonist for the Janacek Philharmonic (Czech Republic) and Czestochowa Philharmonic (Poland), where she began working in 2019. She began her musical education at the age of 16. Despite her late age, she did not lose her enthusiasm to achieve her goals. In 2012, she began studies at the Academy of Music in Krakow in the trombone class of prof. Zdzisław Stolarczyk, which she graduated with honors. In the meantime, she also studied at the University of Stavanger in the class of prof. Per Kristian Svensen thanks to the Erasmus scholarship. In 2017 Marlena started her Master’s Degree in the trombone class of Ian Bousfield at the Hochschule der Kunste Bern, where she graduated in 2019. Marlena shaped her skills by participating in many trombone workshops and festivals led by outstanding trombone players such as Jorgen van Rijen, Joseph Alessi, Stefan Schulz, Alain Trudel, Jonas Bylund, Carsten Svanberg, and many others. She has collaborated with orchestras such as Daejeon Philharmonic (South Korea), Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Polish Radio Orchestra, and many others. In 2019, Marlena also started taking improvisation lessons with the phenomenal jazz trombonist Grzegorz Nagorski, thanks to which she is also active today as a session musician in big bands and groups of various types of music. In 2022, she began working with Haag Brass and is the official artist of the brand.
